Cryoconnect Moves into Flight Phase for the JWST Spacecraft Harnesses

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) celebrates a year of achievement with the recent news that the 2012 fiscal year appropriation bill, marked up by the US Senate, confirms continued funding and support of the project through to its eventual launch in 2018.

Cryoconnect, a division of Tekdata Interconnections Limited; a leading UK-based wiring systems specialist, is manufacturing the spacecraft harnesses under contract to Northrop Grumman, NASA’s prime contractor. The complex harnesses form an essential part linking the spacecraft systems to the telescope. Cryoconnect have also manufactured harnesses for JWST’s three primary instruments, MIRI, NIRCam and NIRSpec.

The JWST is a joint project of NASA, ESA and the CSA and it is the world’s next-generation space observatory. As the most powerful space telescope ever built, it will observe the Universe’s most distant objects; providing images of the very first galaxies ever formed and studying planets around distant stars.
