Tekdata’s commitment to staff development and the value it places on long service was underlined last month following the retirement of exemplary employee Peter Bloor.

Peter retired on 25th January 2012 after almost 39 years of service.

Originally starting at Tekdata on 29th June 1963, Peter was one of the first 5 employees at the company. Working as a wireman, his early days saw him operating from a semi-detached house in Mollart Street, Hanley. Interestingly, the house was formerly the home to the mother and father of R J Mitchell; the aeronautical engineer famed for his design of the Supermarine Spitfire. By coincidence, Peter’s specialist skillset in complex and intricate wiring led to him becoming involved in recent years with supporting Tekdata’s Avionics, Defence and Space sectors!

Peter’s long service was celebrated with a buffet lunch (with cake!) and Ernie Edwards thanked Peter on behalf of Tekdata for his loyalty, commitment and excellent work over his near 39 years with the company.
