Following on from the inaugural award in 2011, Tekdata has recently presented the 2012 Cryoconnect prize for the best degree in astrophysics at Keele University.

Given during Keele’s summer graduation ceremony the prize, as in 2011, has yet again gone to a student who is local to Tekdata. Ben Drummond of Sneyd Green in Stoke on Trent, achieved a first class honours degree in Physics and Astrophysics from the University’s school of physical and geographical sciences, and this award reflects all the hard work that has been put in by him.

“This is a fabulous achievement by Ben and Tekdata- Cryoconnect would like to congratulate him for his outstanding achievements in this area” stated Terry McManus, Project Manager at Tekdata. “As a supplier who is active in the space industry we are really excited at the quality of graduate astrophysicists that Keele are producing and as a high technology company based in Stoke on Trent we are really pleased that yet again the winner was local to the area.”

For Ben himself after spending the last three years looking out into space he has been accepted at Leeds University Physics department to undertake a Master in Research for the physics of climate and atmosphere on Earth. He hopes this will allow him to be involved in the understanding of environmental issues and contribute into addressing the significant challenges facing our planet in future years.
